A Moral Question About AI: Should It Be Any Different?

Most people have never heard of ZF. This German company quietly builds the world's best automatic transmissions. Their 8-speed ZF 8HP powers BMWs, Audis, Jaguars, Range Rovers, Ram trucks. Big, heavy, brilliantly engineered, because they must handle massive torque while shifting faster and smoother than anything else.

In computing today, the most advanced AI models (like Grok and Claude) are the ZF of intelligence: invisible yet absolutely critical.

So here's a simple question: Would ZF ever tell the army, 'Sorry, you can't use our transmissions in your tanks'? The answer is likely no. ZF actively develops specialized transmissions for military armored vehicles, including Europe's next-generation main battle tank.

The question is: should AI be any different?
